The Herbert Hotel is a prime spot for travelers who wish to be in the heart of San Francisco. It's near Union Square, the BART station, and even the cable car.
Do wntown centrally located
I only liked the location, and easy access to all sf attractions using cable car/walking. The rest is bad, noise, not very clean, cable internet...etc
Everything except the location. Pictures appear in website are way better. Room is very old and not very clean.
excellent location. nice clean room.
no view, 200 bucks which we had to pay for junior suite - very expensive. if you get a good deal - nice and clean in excellent central location.
Our rooms looked just like the pictures. I read the reviews the day before of our scheduled arrival date and was very concerned about bedbugs and dirty linens. It was too late to cancel and find new accomodations. Our experience was very positive. This is not a luxury hotel, the rooms were small but very clean--NO bedbugs! Finding street parking around the hotel is impossible and paid parking is quite pricey in downtown SF. The Mexican Restaurant's breakfast was delicious and cheap. We walked fron the hotel to Chinatown, Union Square shops, and to North Beach. The Powell Street Car stop is just one block from the hotel on Market Street. My friends and I will choose this hotel for our next visit!
The parking situation in front of the hotel is marked as a loading and unloading zone. These few spaces are usually taken by big delivery truck and it is very difficult to load and unload both, passengers and baggage. The hotel did not offer discounted parking spaces for guests.
Checkin easy, position ideal, room clean and comfortable. Just the spot for people on a moderate budget wanting to spend some time in San Fran without paying huge amounts for a central position Quiet, warm and double glazed as well!
Some more information about the phone system would be useful.
Accommodations were horrible tattered and used, the staff was very rude, unaccommodating, and even frightening looking. The fire dept. came to the hotel four times during our three night stay, very disruptive to our experience.
The proximity to the shops and the tram cars. Reception staff were very pleasant. room was small but quaint.
We unfortunately stayed there while they were digin up the road in front. The bathroom was very small and the decorating was not up to standard.
The location was excellent and the rooms were to a good standard.
I think the staff could have been friendlier and more helpful.
The rooms did not look like they do on the website and they were extremely warm.
Came over as being a small family run business and it was above the Mexican restaurant
Plastic cutlery inb the restaurant
The rooms were attractive, clean and bright. Also pretty quiet considering the location. We took the Amtrak to the city, and It was just a block away from where the thruway bus drops you off in union square. Lots of late night eats, shopping, and super easy transportation. The rooms were really beautiful and while sparing in amenities, it has everything you need for a nice weekend in the city. Overall, a great value for the price. I would recommend.
The service was pretty poor. We were greated by a very unpleasant woman who didn't want to help us or welcome us at all. The other staff were better, but only marginally so. It left a bit of a bad taste in our mouths that affected the whole stay. Gabrielle was pretty awesome, but Janine was horrible! Also our friends were late cause of a train crash, and though the called to verify the desk was open 24 hours a day, when they arrived there were no staff around. They had to wait till someone left to get in, then stayed in a dirty room out of desperation. Lame.
The rooms weren`t decorate as the pictures in the web page. It was very dissapointed. There a was a girl in the front desk that did not want to answer questions and wasn´t very nice.
Phenomenal location. Neat. Better than expected. Russian girls at the reception (thank you, Alena). Mason Cafe around the corner with a good food. Precise and cheap airport shuttle.
No w-fi. Bad cable internet. My bed light was broken for the duration of my stay. Weak shower stream. Rooms with the windows on Powell are extremly noisy: over-the-top bums screams and cable-cars. For that price: no extra furniture and no fridge. No ice machine in the hotel.
Location and the staff were very helpful and accomodating
Internet service No fridge in the room late check in timing
